Born during the September quarter 1892  in the Prestwich R.D. - ref:8a/452
the eldest son of Joseph & Fanny Hinde (nee Allen).

1891 Census - Before George Herbert Hinde was born, his parents were
residing at 23 Victoria Road, Sale in the house of his mother's widowed
father and is probably the house that George was born.

1901 Census - 53 Seymour Street, Birkenhead.   Nephew - aged: 9 - born:
Sale.   Residing with his paternal uncle - John Hinde and his paternal aunt
- Esther Hinde, plus another paternal uncle - Richard Hinde, who was also
killed during WW1.

His parents are residing at Northenden Road, Sale.   Head of household -
Joseph Hinde - Married - aged: 32 - occ: Ironmonger - born: Manchester..  
Also Fanny Hinde - Wife - aged: 33 - born: Dunnington, Nottinghamshire.   
Plus his 1 year old sibling - Harold Hinde and his maternal grandfather -
George Allen.

Educated at St. Anne's School under Mr. Dowson.     Then at Whitworth St.
Secondary School, Manchester.     Then Bank Meadow School, Manchester.     
Then the Saltby Teacher Training College, Birmingham.

He had great musical talents and was employed as a Teacher at the Manly
Park School, Whalley Range, Chorlton on Medlock, Manchester.

1911 Census - Alum Rock Road, Saltley Erdington, Birmingham.   Student in
Training College - aged: 19 - born: Sale.   No trace of his parents either
here, at Sale or anywhere else.

Connected with the Trinity Wesleyan Chapel, Sale.

Originally a Private in the 20th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers No. PS/8857. 
Entered from No.6 Officer Cadet Battalion, Balliol College, Oxford.

Enlisted in the Public Schools Battalion of the Royal Fusiliers in October
1915 and was drafted to the front in March 1916.      He had been at the
front 11 months before he was commissioned 30th May 1917.    Serving at
Blandford in the 2nd Reserve Battalion w.e.f. the 2nd July 1917.   Attached
to the RND at the front on 27th August 1917.

During an attack, he went ahead with his men to find out what was holding
his Battalion up in front and was killed by a sniper.

Death reported in the 06/11/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.
