eldest son of Willliam & Mary Jane Lamb (neé Luff)..

1901 Census - 18 Pot Green, Ramsbottom.   Son - aged 9 - born: Cheshire. 
Head of household - William L:amb - Married - aged: 32 - occ: Coachman
(Domestic) - born: Cheshire.    Also - Mary Jane Lamb - Wife - aged: 30 -
born: Middlesborough.   Plus 3 younger siblings.

1911 Census - 60 Bold Street, Altrincham.   Son - aged: 19 - occ: Improver
Fitter at Westinghouse Electrical Co. - born: Cheadle.   Head of household
- William Lamb - Married - aged: 42 - occ: Jobbing Gardener - born:
Northenden.   Also Mary Jane Lamb - Wife - aged: 40 - born: Middlesborough.
  Plus 6 younger siblings.

Employed at the Westinghouse Works, Trafford Park.

MIC  - Drafted to France on the 21st May 1915 - BWM - 15 Star & Victory.

The Battalion was in the Wieltje trenches, north-east of Ypres from the 6th
- 15th June, when they moved into reserve positions at the Chateau des
Trois Tours, Brieen.  Moved forward to firing line again on the 19th until
the 23rd when they moved back to the support line at La Belle Alliance and
Foch Farm. On the 27th June they moved forward into the firing line where
James was mortally wounded.
