Flying with 612 Sqn, they took off at 20.55 hours from RAF St. Eval, near the village of Downhill, north-east of Newquay, Cornwall, in a Whitley Mk5 - number T4325 WL-S for an anti-submarine patrol. They were undertaking a creeping line ahead search in the Bay of Biscay, but failed to return. The crew of six are all commemorated on the Rnnymede Memorial. The crew were:- Flying Officer J.
