Attended Giggleswick School.Joined the RAF 2 years before war broke out. Married Miss Margaret Phoebe Hill, the youngest daughter of Major H.J. & Mrs. H. Hill, at St. George's P.C. Altrincham in March 1942. Flying with 500 Sqn, they took off in a Blenheim Mk 4 - number Z6164 MK-V, at 21.21 hours from RAF Bircham, Newton (7/22), situated north-east of Kings Lynn, Norfolk for a Night Intruder operation to Soesterberg, Netherlands. The a/c crashed into the sea off Noordwijk, Netherlands and the three man crew were all killed. The crew members were:- Flying Officer I.H.N. Terry (pilot); Sgt. H.D. Poole and Sgt. A.C. Scrivens and they are all commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial. Major & Mrs. Hill were residents of Altrincham. His father Flt.Lt Noel Terry was serving overseas in the RAF. | |||
