Enlisted in September 1915 and drafted to the front in July 1917.

Death reported in the Altrincham Guardian dated 14/09/1917.   Commemorated
in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1918.

12/01/1883, 77 Whitelees Road, Littleborough, Lancashire - address later
crossed out and 12 Lake View entered.  Awarded a £5 Grant on the 14th
October 1917 and a weekly pension of 13/9d w.e.f. the 25th March 1918.  His
widow married an Arthur Smith in 1918 in the Rochdale R.D.
