Born during the September quarter 1903 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/662, the son of Frederick & Frances Catherine Jane Tomlinson (nee Jordan). 1911 Census - "Farcroft", Broad Oak Road, Worsley, Lancashire. Son - aged: 7 - born: Worsley, Lancashire. Head of household - Frederick Tomlinson - Married - aged: 39 - occ: Metalurgical Engineer in Copper& Brass Smeltingt Factory - born: Manchester. Also - Frances Catherine Jane Tomlinson - Wife - aged: 36 - born: Manchester. Plus 3 siblings and 1 domestic servant. Married Christine Lydia Scholes during the June quarter 1933 in the Kensington R.D. - ref: 1a/409. 1939 National Registration - No Trace, which would indicate that he was in the Army by then as servicemen were not included in this census. His wife is listed as residing at "Ivernia" (next door to the Vicarage), Church Lane, Mobberley. Christine Tomlinson - Married - born on the 16th January 1911 - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties. There are two redacted records at this address. Also listed are her parents George H. & Christine L. Scholes. An article in the Liverpool Echo dated 17th July 1941 states that he is on active service in the Middle East and that his wife - Christine, was residing at West Bank, Bowdon. Christine died during the June quarter 1942 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/376 - aged: 31. Her probate record states that at the time of her death she was residing at 1 Sunny Bank, Stamford Road, Bowdon, but she died at Brook Edge, Slade Lane, Mobberley on the 20th June 1942. Her Estate being valued at £1,880. 17s. 7d. Commemorated on the private family gravestone in S.S. Wilfred & Mary Churchyard, Mobberley.
