Born at Albert Square, Bowdon on the 16th December 1896, the birth being registered during the March quarter 1897 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/174, the son of Henry & Florence Tetlow (nee Burgess). 1901 Census - East Downs Road, Bowdon. Son - aged: 4 - born: Bowdon. Head of household - Married - aged: 33 - occ: Reed Heald & Wire Manufacturer - born:Manchester. Also - Florence Tetlow - Wife - aged: 33 - born: Alsager, Cheshire. Plus 1 elder brother, 1 maternal aunt and 2 domestic servants. 1911 Census - Rossall School, Fleetwod, Lancashire. Student - aged: 14 - born: Bowdon. His parents and family were then residing at 6 Laurel Mount, East Downs Road, Bowdon. Brothers - Henry Tetlow (b. 1895) - George Tetlow (b. 1905 - Nancy Tetlow (b. 1907). WO374/67691 - Enlisted at 10 Stone Buildings, Lincoln's Inn, London on the 8th November 1915. On the 26th May 1916, he applied for a Commission. He stated that he had served in No.2 Company, Inns of Court O.T.C., Berkhampstead, Hertfordshire. His personal referee was William Topham Moss J.P., a County Councillor, 11 The Crescent, Ripon, Yorkshire who stated that he had known Kenneth for 10 years. Accepted for a Commission in the 7th Reserve Battalion, Worcestershire Rgt, Windmill Hill Station, Andover. At his medical held on the 31st May 1916, he was 5 feet 7 1/2 inches, weighed 9 stone 4 lb, his chest measurements were 32 1/2 to 34 1/2 inches. H stated that he had suffered from Pneumonia in 1916. He served At Home from the 8th November 1915 to the 22nd November 1916. Promoted to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) on the 23rd November 1916. He returned to England from Boulogne to Folkestone on the 27th January 1918 having been given leave until the 10th February 1918. On the 14th February 1918 he wrote to the ???? Office stating that he was now fit to return to duty with the Expeditionary Force - presumably sick on the 10th February. attd 08th Bn [2] though the SDGW states that he was with the 7th Bn.
