Born during the June quarter 1918 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/248, the son of Alexander James & Constance Mary Margaret Thornton (nee Kershaw). Flying Vickers Wellington Bombers Mk VIII fitted with "Leigh Lights" from RAF Chivenor on anti-submarine patrols. RAF Chivenor was situated on the northern shore of the Taw estuary, adjacent to the South West Coast Path, on the north coast of Devon, England. Sale R.U.F.C. centenary book states that he was killed on operations. Commemorated on the family gravestone in Sale Cemetery - M.601. |
