Born during the March quarter 1873 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/818, the son of Albert William Edwin & Mary Saxon (nee Garside). 1881 Census - 3 Ayre Street, Stretford, Lancashire - aged: 8 - Scholar - son of Albert W. E. & Mary Saxon. His father's Occ: Timber Merchant, employing four men. 1891 Census - 27 Bland Street, Moss Side, Manchester. Son - aged: 18 - occ: Shorthand Clerk - born: Hulme, Manchester. Head of household - Albert W.E. Saxon - Married - aged: 50 - occ: Timber Merchant Traveller - born: Ashton under Lyne. Mary Saxon - Wife - aged: 42 - born: Manchester. Plus elder sister - Alice. 1901 Census - His parents were residing at 5, Raby Street, Moss Side, Manchester. Albert W.E. - Married - aged: 60 - occ: Timber Merchants Agent - born: Ashton under Lyne. Mary - Wife - aged: 52 - born: Manchester. Plus Alice. He attested on the 15th November 1899 at Durban, South Africa. His age was given as: 27. He had fair complexion - Hazel eyes - Brown hair - was 5 feet 8¾ inches in height and weighed 9 stone 8 lb. Chest measurements 31½ inches to 34 incehes expanded.
