Born during the December quarter 1932 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/693, the daughter of Stanley & Marion Spencer (nee Hargreaves). 1939 National Registration - 27 Woodstock Road, Firswood, Stretford. Stanley Spencer - Married - born: 12th April 1903 - occ: Meat Salesman - Wholesale. There is an overwritten note stating that he was "Manager National Food Dept. Deputy Pork Meat Agent". Marion Spencer - Married - born: 6th December 1903 - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties. Jean M. Spencer - Single - born: 21st September 1932 - occ: At School. CWD Report No. 57. Died as a result of blast at 27 Woodstock Road, Firswood, Stretford, from where her body was recovered at 06.15 hrs on the 23rd December 1940 and taken to the City Road Mortuary. Her body was identified by her uncle - William Massey, Downing Street, Manchester and released for burial to the Manchester & Salford Co-op Funeral Department. Described as being 4 feet 2 inches in height, of medium Build, with brown hair. Buried 27/12/1940 - Burial No. 17,867. Jean's parents were also killed in this incident. Five people died in this incident. Stanley Spencer, his wife - Marion Spencer and their daughter - Jean Marion Spencer at No. 27 together with two of their neighbours - Edwin & Emily Wood at No. 29.
