son of George & Margaret Stafford (nee Askew).

1861 Census - His parents were then residing at 225, High Street, Minster,
Sheerness, Kent.   George Stafford - aged: 24 - occ: Shipwright in Dockyard
- born: Blyth.  Magaret Stafford - Wife - aged: 18 - born: Dipson Park,
Northumberland.  They married during the March quarter 1861 in the
Sheerness R.D.

1871 Census - Quay, South Blyth, Northumberland.      Son - aged: 4 - born:
Blyth, Northumberland.    Head of Household - George Stafford - Married -
aged: 35 - occ: Steamboat Master - born: Blyth, Northumberland.    Also -

  He attested on the 28th December 1900 at East London, South Africa. His
mother was listed as next of kin and she was residing at 583 Eccles New
Road.   His occupation was given as: Rigger.

Died of Dysentery.    Commemorated on the private family gravestone in S.S.
Wilfred & Mary Church Yard, Mobberley.

His father George died 24/01/1918 aged 83 years and his mother Margaret,
died 04/01/1925 aged 83 years.  Both deaths registered at the Bucklow R.D.

His name is listed on the Braamfontein Cemetery Memorial - no trace now of
his actual grave in Braamfontein Cemetery.
