Born on the 1st July 1892 - probably at Beaconsfield Place, Aberdeen, the
son of James & Blanche Mary Saint (nee Moffatt).

At the time of the 1891 Census the family was residing at Beaconsfield
Place, Old Machar, Aberdeen, Scotland.   Head of household - James Saint -
aged: 31 (1860) - Draper    Blanche M. Saint - aged: 30 (1861).   Plus
their children - Alice M - aged: 5 (b.1886)  Percy J. - aged: 4 (b.1887)  
Constance J. - aged: 2 (b.1889).   All born at Aberdeen except Blanche who
was born in England.

1901 Census - 22 Thicket Road, Penge, Surrey.   All listed as "Moffatt".  
Grandson - aged: 8 - born: Aberdeen.   Head of household - Charles H.
Moffatt - Married - aged: 70 - occ: Clerk - born: Carshalton, Surrey.  
Also Mary A. Moffatt - Wife - aged: 68 - born: Kennington, Surrey.   Also
Blanche Mary Moffatt (his mother) - Married - aged: 40 - born: Camberwell,
Surrey.   Also his elder sisters - Alice Mary Moffatt & Constance I.
Moffatt - born: Aberdeen.   Plus 1 visitor and 1 domestic servant.

His father died in 1904, aged: 50.

Moffatt - Wife - aged: 78 - born: Kennington, Surrey.   Also Blanche Mary
Saint (his mother) - Widow - aged: 50 - born: Camberwell, Surrey.   Also
Alice Mary Saint (his sister) single - aged: 25 born: Aberdeen.

His widowed mother married Thomas W. Heese during the June quarter 1912 in
the Croydon R.D. - ref: 2a/579.  They resided at "Hillside" Charlwood,
Surrey.

WO339/73914 - Enlisted No. 2598 - into the 16th Battalion, London Rgt
(Queen's Westminster Rifles) on the 31st August 1914.  He was aged: 22
years 1 day and was 5 feet 11 inches in height.  His chest measurements
were 33 - 36 1/2 inches and had Good physical development.  He made his
Will on the 28th March 1915.   Posted to France on the 17th August 1915,
returning to England on the 11th November 1915.   Transferred ????? 9/3/16
????   Attached to Cadet Unit School of Military Engineering, Chatham on
the 7th May 1916.  At the time of his application for a Commission, he was
residing at Clive House, Grand Junction Parade, Brighton.   Appointed
Temporary 2nd Lieutenant on the 23rd July 1916, Gazetted on the 5th August
1916.   Probate of his Will was granted to his mother - Blanche Mary Heese
at the Principal Registry Office (London) on the 20th October 1917.   His
Estate was valued at £187. 1s. 1d.
