Born during the June quarter 1891 in the Barton on Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/760, the son of David & Emma Sproson. Employed as an Accountant with W.F. Wrigley, 53 Brown Street, Manchester from September 1909 to August 1914. 1891 Census - 19 Virgil Street, Stretford. Son - aged: 1 month - born: Stretford. Head of household - David Sproson - Married - aged: 35 - occ: Billiard Marker - born: Congleton, Cheshire. Also - Emma - Wife - aged:34 - born: Congleton. Plus - 3 elder siblings. 1901 Census - 19 Virgil Street, Stretford. Son - aged: 10 - born: Manchester. Head of household - David Sproson - Married - aged: 45 - occ: Billiard Marker - born: Congleton, Cheshire. Also - Emma - Wife - aged: 44 - born: Congleton. Plus - 6 siblings. 1911 Census - 371 Chester Road, Old Trafford, Manchester. Son - aged: 20 - occ: Chartered Accounts Clerk - born: Manchester. Formerly 17th Bn Lancashire Fusiliers. Sent to the School of Military Aronautics at Reading and from there he moved to 3875 Rendcombe, Gloucestershire on the 17th November 1917. From Pendcombe he was sent to 15 Air Gunnery School, Hythe, Kent on the 26th December 1917. He graduated as a Night Flying Observer and passed the Hythe Air Gunnery Course. He had flown Sopwith 2 seaters, DH4, FE2b, Bristol Fighter, BE2c aircraft. Sent to 38 Sqn on the 2nd February 1918. Married Florence Stanley during the March quarter 1918 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/1220. Appointed Temporary 2nd Lieutenant on the 4th July 1918 and drafted to 101 Sqn based at Famechon, France where he was killed when his aircraft crashed on leaving the airfield.
