William &  Ann Nightingale (nee Adams).

1911 Census - Holly Villas, Mersey Road, Ashton upon Mersey.   Son in Law
(Arthur Nightingale) - Married - aged: 30 - occ: Clerk - born: Ashton under
Lyne.   Also - Millie Nightingale - Wife (daughter to the Head of household
- Emma Jane Wallwork) - aged: 27 - born: Sale.   Plus their son - Enos
Nightingale - aged: 1 - born: Ashton upon Mersey.

Enlisted into the Mercantile Navy on the 27th December 1917.   He was 5
feet 6 3/4 inches in height with Brown hair, Brown eyes.and Fresh
complexion.   Posted to HMS President II.  Posted to Rockhampton
Gloucestershire on the 29th December 1917 where he served until the 31st
March 1918 when he transferred into the R.A.F.  The record confirms that he
was born at Ashton under Lyne on the 13th February 1881.

I believe this is the  'H' Nightingale commemorated on the Sale War
Memorial.    Possibly transcribed from a badly written 'A' Nightingale???
