Born during the March quarter 1919 in the Salford R.D. - ref: 8d/146, the son of William & Mary Noakes (nee Parkinson). Joined the Metro-Vicker's Company as a Probationary Trade Apprentice in October 1933 and became a Trade Apprentice in March 1935. Joined the R.N. in July 1939. Presumed KinA at Sea in May 1940. 1939 National Registration - 151 Sutton Dwelling, Salford. William Noakes - Married - born: 3rd January 1890 - occ: Turbine Erector & Tester + Auxiliary Fireman for Metro-Vickers. Mary Noakes - Married - born: 20th Novemer 1893 - occ: Unpaid Domestic Durites. Charles Noakes - Single - born: 26th February 1921 - occ: Apprentice Fitter, Motor Assembly. Margaret Noakes (later Shaw) - Single - born: 8th January 1923 - occ: Underwear Machinist. There is one redacted record at this address - probably either William S. Noakes (b.1925) or Mary T. Noakes (b.1928)? James was serving in the Royal Navy at the time of this census and was not at home. |
