Born during the September quarter 1887 in the Ormskirk R.D. - ref: 8b/795, the son of Harvey Nuttall M.P. for Stretford & Edith M. Nuttall (nee Smith). 1891 Census - "Ravenswood", Fielden Park, Didsbury, Manchester. Son - aged: 3 - born: Southport, Lancashire. Head of household - Harry Nuttall - Married - aged: 41 - occ: Oil Manufacturer - born: Manchester. Also - Edith M. Nuttall - Wife - aged: 33 - born: Bolton. Plus 2 younger sisters and 5 domestic servant. 1901 Census - Lockers Park, Hemel Hempstead, Herfordshire. Boarder - aged: 13 - Scholar - born: Southport. His father and 3 siblings were residing at Green Walk, Bowdon. His father was a 51 year old employed as an Oil Manufacturer Grain Merchant. There were 6 domestic servants. 1911 Census - Raynorcroft, Green Walk, Bowdon. Son - aged: 23 - occ: Student - born: Southport, Lancashire. Head of household - Harry Nuttall - Married - aged: 61 - occ: Grain Important & Oil Importer and Manufacturer - born: Manchester. Also - Edith Mary Nuttall - Wife - aged: 53 - born: Bolton. Plus 1 younger sister and 7 domestic servants. Married Meryll Vernon Neild, the daughter of William Morell & Mabel Neild, Hart Hall, Woodville Rd, Bowdon, on the 10th June 1914. William was a Manager of a Calico Printing Business. Commissioned into the Army Service Corps in October 1915 and drafted to France on the 14th July 1916 1916 (MIC). Died at a Casualty Clearing Station from wounds received on the 4th July 1917. Death reported iin the 10/07/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian, the report stated that he was serving with the Army Service Corps. His widow married Meryll Gillies-Reyburn. Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1918, which states that he lived at Walton on the Hill, Surrey - formerly of Bowdon. CWGC - Son of Harry & Edith M. Nuttall: husband of Meryll Gilles-Reyburn (formerly Nuttall). His father was a member of the Manchester Reform Club, 81 King Street, Manchester. Harry is commemorated on a plaque in St. Peter's P.C., Walton on the Hill, Surrey and on the war memorial in the church grounds, as well as the family grave in the churchyard, images on the I.W.M. website. |
