Born during the March quarter in the Altrincham R.. - ref: 8a/174, the son of Charles & Ann Morgan (nee Carter). In 1871 the family resided at Priory Road, Sale. 1881 Census - Sinderland, Dunham Massey, Cheshire. Son - aged: 1 - born: Dunham, Cheshire. Head of household - Charles Morgan - Married - aged: 41 - occ; Farmer of 36 acres, employing 5 men - born: Timperley. Also - Ann Morgan - Wife - aged: 37 - born: Sale. Plus 6 elder siblings - 5 of the boys all born at Sale, the daughter born at Dunham in 1878. 1891 Census - Washway Road, Sale. Son - aged: 11 - Scholar - born: Dunham Massey. Head of household - Charles Morgan - Married - aged: 51 - occ; Farmer- born: Timperley. Also - Ann Morgan - Wife - aged: 47 - born: Sale. Plus 7 siblings. 1901 Census - Manchester Road, Timperley. Son - aged@: 21 - occ: General Labourer - born: Dunham Massey. Head of household - Charles Morgan - Married - aged: 62 - occ; Farmer - born: Timperley. Also - Ann Morgan - Wife - aged: 58 - born: Sale. Plus 5 siblings. 1911 Census - Brook Cottage, off Brookfield Avenue, Timperley. Head of household - Single - aged: 31 - occ: Market Gardener - born: Dunham Massey. Also 1 younger brother and 1 younger sister. Married Eiza Daniels during the December quarter 1912 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/368. By 1914 Alfred and his brother Herbert jointly owned land at Leys Road, Timperley, but resided at Brookside, Manchester Road, Timperley. Death reported in the 20/09/1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian. Enlisted in August 1916. Formerly 5213 Cheshire Rgt. Left a widow and three children. MIC - BWM & VM only indicating that he did not go to France until 1916. Pension Records - Widow - Eliza Morgan, 20 Heywood Grove, Brooklands. Awarded a grant of £8 on the 7th October 1918 and a weekly pension of 27/9d w.e.f. the 17th March 1919. The three children were:- Alfred (b.20/03/1913) - Colin (b. 26/03/1914) - May (b. 18/04/1916. |
