Attended Altrincham Grammar School. Joined the editorial staff of the Sale Office of the Guardian newspaper. An enthusiastic cricketer and played for the Ashton on Mersey C.C. Volunteered for the RNAS under the "Y" Scheme. In November 1942 (on his 18th birthday) he was called to service and was commissioned in April 1944. He was completing his training as an Observer, part of which was accomplished in the USA. He had just announced his engagement to Gwynneth Clark of Ashley Drive, Sale. Killed in a flying accident on the Isle of Man. Burial report in 25/05/1945 edition of the local newspaper. |
