Born during the March quarter 1910 in the Ecclesall Bierlow R.D. - ref: 9c/450a, the son of George Henry (M.A.) & Florence Overend McNeal (nee Slater). 1911 Census - 25 Montgomery Road, Sheffield. Son - aged: 1 - born: Sheffield. Head of household - George Henry McNeal - Married - aged: 36 - occ: Weslyan Methodist Minister - born: Preesall, Lancashire. Also Florence Overend McNeal - Wife - aged: 38 - born: Leeds, Yorkshire. Plus 2 elder siblings and 2 domestic servants. Gained a B.Sc. (Engineering) London. Joined the Metro-Vicker's Company as a College Apprentice in October 1932. On completion of his apprenticeship in December 1934 he joined the staff of the Leeds Office. Joined the Territorial Army in which he held the rank of Second Lieutenant and mobilised in August 1939. Died in England in June 1940. |
