Born at Horwich on the 4th june 1919, the birth being registered during the June quarter 1919 in the Bolton R.D. - ref: 8c/500, the son of John Thomas & Elizabeth Maynard (nee Hope). 1939 National Registration - 3 Reidy House, Stepney, London. Residing with his blind uncle and his family. John Maynard - born on the 27th June 1919 - Single - occ: Labourer at Oil Factory. His father and his siblings were residing at St. Bride's Rectory, Old Trafford John T. Maynard - born on the 23rd May 1888 - Married - occ: Rector (C of E). Daphne M.C.H. Maynard - born on the 22nd October 1920. Plus three redacted records. Died of Beriberi as a POW in Japanese hands at the Osaka POW Camp 111. His body was cremated and his remains buried in the British Section - Plot K - Row B - Grave . Grave 15. Commemorated on the private family gravestone in Stretford Cemetery together with his brother, Martin. Probate for John Vernon Maynard of 30 Brooks Road, Manchester 16 granted at Manchester on the 10th October 1944 to Elizabeth Maynard (widow). His Estate was valued at £222. 18s 6d. His father, John Thomas died in January 1944 aged 55 years. His mother - Elizabeth Hope Maynard died in January 1947, aged: 51. |
