Born during the September quarter 1896 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/705, the third son of Joseph Collinge & Lily Moorhouse (nee Barratt). Their eldest son - Joseph Francis Moorhouse died on the 3rd December 1894, aged: 5 years 7 months. 1901 Census - 79 Stretford Road, Urmston. Son - aged: 4 - born: Urmston. Head of household - Joseph C. Moorhouse - Married - aged: 39 - occ: Traveller for Smallwares Manufacturer - born: Waterfoot, Lancashire. Also - Lily Moorhouse - Wife - aged: 33 - born: Manchester. Plus 4 siblings and 2 servants. 1911 Census - "Ashlea", Stanley Grove, Urmston. Son (recorded as Roy) - aged: 4 - born: Urmston. Head of household - J.C. Moorhouse - Married - aged: 50 - occ: Commercial Traveller for Smallwares - born: Waterfoot, Lancashire. Also - Lily Moorhouse - Wife - aged: 44 - born: Manchester. Plus 4 siblings and 1 servant. According to the newspaper report and the family grave in Urmston Cemetery - he was in training with the Public Schools Battalion and died at Epsom. The PSB began recruiting on the 1st September 1914 at Woodcote Park Estate Camp, Epsom. Death reported in the 16/10/1914 edition of the Stretford Telegraph.
