Born at 9 Bent Terrace, Crofts Bank, Urmston on the 19th January 1891, the
birth being registered during the March quarter 1891 in the Barton upon
Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/692, the son of John Thomas & Emma Ann MacKenzie (nee
Abbott).

1901 Census - 5 Holly Avenue, Flixton.   Son - aged: 10 - born: Urmston.  
Head of household - John Thomas MacKenzie - Married - aged: 45 - occ:
Railway Clerk - born: Darlington, Co. Durham.   Also - Emma Ann MacKenzie -
Wife - aged: 40 - born: Preston, Lancashire.  Plus 5 siblings.

1911 Census - 34 Wycliffe Road, Urmston.   Son - aged: 20 - occ: Printer's
Traveller - born: Urmston.   Head of household - John Thomas MacKenzie -
Married - aged: 55 - occ: Clerk - born: Darlington, Co. Durham.   Also -
Emma Ann MacKenzie - Wife - aged: 50 - born: Preston, Lancashire.  Plus 2
siblings, a nephew and 1 visitor.

WO374/44587 - Enlisted at Manchester on the 31st August 1914.  He was then
aged: 24 years 8 months.   He was 5 feet 5 inches in height with chest
measurements of 32 1/2 to 34 1/2 inches.   His eyesight was good as was his
physical development.  Posted to the 3/6th Battalion, Manchester Rgt on the
11th November 1914. Taken onto the strength of the 1/6th Battalion,
Manchester Rgt on the 3rd June 1915 and embarked at Pymouth on that date. 
He joined the unit in the field on the 22nd June 1915.  Suffered a G.S.W.
(Gun shot wound) (Slight) on the 6th July 1915 and repatriated to Malta for
treatment, arriving on the 16th July 1915.  Suffering from a wounded right
arm and figers and dihorrhea.   Returned to England on the 25th August 1915
on  the Hospital Ship - H.S. Galikan.   Posted to the 8th Battalion on the
3rd July 1916 until being granted a Commission with the 4th Battalion,
South Lancashire Rgt on the 25th October 1916.

Letters of Administration were granted to his father on the 20th December
1916 by the Manchester Probate Office.

Field death notice states that he was with the 11th Battalion, East
Lancashire Rgt ???   No. 250458.
