Born during the September quarter 1897 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/687, the son of Thomas & Mary Florence Mosedale (nee Miles). 1901 Census - Crofts Bank Road (between Bent Terrace and The Retreat), Davyhulme. Son - aged: 3 - born: Davyhulme. Head of household - Thomas Mosedale - Married - aged: 33 - occ: Bricklayer (Clay) - born: Eccles. Also - Mary F. Mosedale - Wife - aged: 35 - born: Crewe, Cheshire. Plus 2 brothers and 1 domestic servant. 1911 Census - Brook House and Brick Works, Crofts Bank Road, Davyhulme. Brother - aged: 13 - Scholar - born: Davyhulme. Plus his elder brother listed as Head of house - aged: 15 Scholar and half time Clerk - born: Davyhulme. Plus 1 domestic servant. His parents were boarders at Chesterfield House Hydro, Matlock, Derbyshire, enjoying the hydropathic treatment and other leisure facilities the Hydro had to offer. Thomas Mosedale - Married - occ: Master Brick Layer (own account) - born: Eccles. Mary Florence Mosedale - Wife - aged: 44 - born: Weston, Crewe. They were accompanied by their two youngest children, aged - 11 and 9. Educated at Manchester Grammar School and played football for their first team.
