Born 06/02/1908. Employed as a Dental Mechanic for 21 years by a Hale Dentist. Married Vera Elizabeth Oakley during the March quarter 1933 in the Bucklow R.D. - ref: 8a/201. He joined the ARP in September 1938 and the 'A' Coy. No.1 Bn Cheshire Home Guard on its formation in May 1940. After only three weeks service in the RN he died of Septicemia at the R.N. Hospital, Plymouth. Death reported in the 29/10/1943 edition of the Sale & Stretford Guardian. Buried 27/10/1943 - Burial No. 11,821. Commemorated on the private family gravestone in Hale Cem. M.I. - "They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old". Left a widow and a young son - Philip. |
