Born on the 6th December 1891, the birth being registered during the December quarter 1891 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/715, the son of William Charles & Sarah Ann Littlewood (nee Pickles). 1901 Census - 2 Turner Street, Stretford. Son - aged: 9 - Scholar - born: Stretford. Head of household - William C. Littlewood - Married - aged: 43 - occ: Iron Moulder - born: Manchester. Also - Sarah A. Littlewood - Wife - aged: 43 - born; Manchester. Plus - 7 siblings. 1911 Census - 13 Harold Street, Cornbrook, Stretford. Son - aged: 19 - occ; Brass Moulder - born: Manchester. Head of household - William Charles Littlewood - Married - aged: 53 - occ: Iron Moulder - born: Manchester. Also - Sarah A. Littlewood - Wife - aged: 53 - born; Manchester. Plus - 4 siblings. His parents had 10 children, but one died. Served "At Home" on Munitions work. Married Winifred Ellen Davis in St. Matthew's P.C., Stertford on the 5th August 1916. They produced one child - Joan Littlewood born on the 23rd July 1917 and Christened on the 5th August 1917. Pension Record - states that he contracted Influenza whilst on active duty "At Home" (U.K.), that developed into pneumonia from which he died. His widow received a Grant of £6 on the 20th January 1919 and was awarded a weekly pension of 20/5d w.e.f. the 2nd June 1919. He died on the 30th November 1918, the death being registered during the December quarter 1918 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/1093 - aged: 27. Buried in Stretford Cemetery on the 5th November 1918. NOT COMMEMORATED BY THE CWGC. |
