Born Clara Elizabeth Barlow on the 4th September 1882, the birth being registered during the September quarter 1882 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/877, the daughter of Alfred & Robina Jane Barlow (nee Richardson). 1891 Census - 28 Pickford Street, Stretford. Daughter - aged: 8 - Scholar - born: Manchester. Head of household - Alfred Barlow - Married - aged: 28 - occ: Book Keeper - born: Manchester. Also Robina J. Barlow - Wife - aged: 29 - born: Manchester. 1901 Census - 154 Rylance Street, Chorlton. Sister - Unmarried - aged: 19 - occ: Confectioner's Shop Assistant - born: Manchester. Head of household - James A. Barlow - aged: 27 - occ: Railway Clerk. Plus 3 younger sisters. All born in Manchester. 1911 Census - 47 Stretford Road, Hulme, Manchester. Servant - Unmarried - aged: 29 - occ: Domestic Housemaid - born: Hulme, Manchester. Her employers were Michael & Mary Lyons - listed as Hotel Keeper and Assistant (same description as her husband) Married Fred Kelsall during the December quarter 1915 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/1999. 1939 National Registration - 26 Caton Street, Stretford. Fred Kelsall - Married - Born: 7th April 1896 - occ: Green Grocrer's Assistant. Clara E. Kelsall - Married - Born: 4th September 1882 - occ: Daily Help. CWD Report No. 5. Died as a result of falling debris at 95 Dalton Street, Old Trafford, from where her body was recovered at 09.50 hrs on the 14th October 1940 (nearly 3 days after that of her husband) and taken to the City Road Mortuary, Old Trafford. Her body was identified by her uncle - H.H. Richardson, 6 Dale Street, Hulme and released for cremation to Thomas Broome & Sons, 37 Upper Jackson Street, Hulme. Described as being 5 feet 3 inches in height, sturdy with dark hair and dark complexion. Listed in the Stretford Book as being killed on 14/10/40 - this is actually when her body was recovered NOT when she died. Death registered in Stretford Borough. Cremated on the 18th October 1940. Dalton St was on the border of Old Trafford & Hulme, but mostly in Hulme. CWGC - Wife of Frederick Kelsall. Died at 95 Dalton Street, Charlton Road, Old Trafford. |
