Trafford

Born on the 3rd July 1914, the birth being registered during the September
quarter 1914, the son of Thomas Edward & Alice King (nee Carrier).

Married Alice Allcock during the March quarter 1938 in the Bucklow R.D. -
ref: 8a/409.  They produced one child - Beryl A. King (b.1941).

1939 National Registration - Residing with his wife's family at 85 Booth
Street West, Moss Side, Manchester.   Victor L. King - Married - born on
the 3rd July 1914 - occ: Labourer at Flour Mills.  Alice King Married -
born on the 8th February 1913 - occ: Gown Machinist.

His parents were then living at 26 Whitefield Road, Ashton upon Mersey,
together with two of his brothers - George A. King & Thomas A. King.  His
father was employed as an Engineer's Clerk.

Victor was a Miller and employed by the CWS at their Sun Flour Mills at
Trafford Park.  This mill was damaged by air raids in 1940.

He was fond of billiards and played football for Sale Amateurs.  He
enlisted in the Royal Corps of Signals in 1941.

He served in North Africa with the 56th Division, attached to the 113 Field
Regiment, Royal Artillery.  On the 9th September 1943 he took part in the
Invasion of the Italian mainland at Salerno.  By the end of September they
had reached Naples and by the 11th October the Volturno Line

His eldest brother, Herbert was a Wireless Op in RAF, his second brother,
George was a Signalman, his third brother, was a Craftsman in REME and his
younger brother, Arnold was in Canada training to be a Navigator, whilst
his youngest brother, Lawrence was an Air Cadet and an ARP Messenger.

Death reported in the 19/11/1943 edition of the Sale & Stretford Guardian.

His widow married Eric Greenbanks in 1947.
