Born during the December quarter 1893 in the Macclesfield R.D. - ref:
8a/140, the son of William Joy & Sarah Elizabeth Hewetson (nee darby).

1901 Census - North Dene, 15 Sibson Road, Sale.   The family are all
recorded by the name HEWITSON.   Son - aged: 7 - born: Alderley Edge,
Cheshire.   Head of household - William J. Hewitson - Married - aged: 50 -
occ: Actioneer Valuer & Estate Agent - born: Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.  
Also - Sarah E. Hewitson - Wife - aged: 51 -born: Cheltenham,
Gloucestershire.   Plus - 4 elder siblings and 1 domestic servant.

1911 Census - 19 Beaufort Avenue, Sale.   Now all listed as HEWETSON.   Son
- aged: 17 - occ: Municipal Clerk - born: Alderley Edge, Cheshire.   Head
of household - William Jay Hewitson - Married - aged: 60 - occ: Estate
Agent - born: Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.   Also - Sarah Elizabeth Hewitson -
Wife - aged: 61 - born: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.   Plus - 1 elder
sister and 1 domestic servant.

From my Sale Hotel, Botanical Gardens & Environs researches I have it that
19 Beaufort Avenue was built and owned by John Witty who built the Sale
Hotel in 1878.  The house was offered for sale for £500.00 in 1905, but
was withdrawn from sale.  The Hewetson family moved in there in 1908.  
Having been diagnosed with Locomotor Ataxia and suffered for some
considerable time with the disease, in December 1917, his father - William
Joy Hewetson committed suicide by drinking Carbolic Acid.  His mother
remained at the property until her death in 1929, aged: 79.

His father, was for many years, the Clerk to the Swinton & Pendlebury Local
Board.

Native of Alderley Edge.    Listed as J.F. Hewetson on St. Paul's
Memorial???

Killed during the German Spring Offensive of March 1918.   Death reported
in the 16/04/1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.
