Born on the 31st October 1908, the birth being registered during the December quarter 1908 in the Barton on Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/641, the son of Thomas & Prescilla Ellen Harrop (nee Perry). 1911 Census - 45 Brunswick Street, Stretford. Son - aged: 2 - born: Stretford. Head of household - Thomas Harrop - Married - aged: 35 - occ: Tailor (Maker) - born: Stretford. Also - Priscilla Ellen Harrop - Wife - aged: 28 - born: Ashley, Cambridgeshire. Married Lily Tierney during the September quarter 1935 in the Manchester North R.D. - ref: 8d/1667 and they resided at 309 Barton Road, Stretford. An Engineering Fitter by trade, acting as a Special Constable. 1939 National Registration - 309 Barton Road, Stretford. John C. Harrop - Born: 31st October 1908 - occ: Tailor Journeyman & Special Constable. Lily Harrop - Married - Born: 23rd December 1908 - occ: Milliner. CWD Report No.111. Killed by falling debris outside Stretford Library, King St, Stretford from where his body was recovered on the 12th March 1941 and taken to the Church Street Mortuary, Stretford. His body was identified by his brother and released to his widow Lily Harrop for burial. Buried 15/03/1941 - Burial No. 18,073. His father, Thomas died 20/02/1945 aged 69 years and his mother, Prescilla Ellen died 28/08/1973 aged 90 years.
