Born on the 14th June 1909, the birth being registered during the September quarter 1909 in the Oldham R.D. - ref: 8d/667, the son of Thomas & Emily Hughes (nee Cheetham). 1911 Census - 12 Elm Street, Hollinwood, Oldham. Son - aged: 1 - born: Oldham. Head of household - Thomas Hughes - Married - aged: 26 - occ: Cotton Stripper & Grinder - born: Oldham. Also Emily Hughes - Wife - aged: 29 - born: Oldham. Plus Emily's brother He married Lily Mary Hom during the June quarter 1934 in the Oldham R.D. - ref: 8d/1845. Resided with his wife - Lily Mary Hughes (nee Horn), at 3 Bellfield Avenue, Hathershaw, Oldham. 1939 National Registration - 3 Bellfield Avenue, Oldham. CWGC state that he was injured on the 2nd December, but the 22nd seems much more likely. |
