Born on the 25th March 1905, the son of Michael & Mary Holt of 62 Gloucester Road, Urmston. 1911 Census - 25 Victoria Street, Urmston. Son - aged 5 - Scholar - born: Urmston. Head of household - Michael (father) - Married - aged: 50 - occ: Packer - born: St. Helens. Also his wife, Mary (mother) aged: 45 - born: St. Helens. Married for 17 years. His three brothers and one sister were also listed. 1939 National Registration - 10 Wentworth Avenue, Urmston. Frank (Francis) Holt - Married - born: 25th March 1897 - occ: Steel Furnace Man Heavy Work. Margaret A. Holt - Married - born: 22nd May 1897 - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties. Arthur Holt - Single - born: 25th March 1905 - occ: None given other than A.F.S. John F. Holt - Single - born: 31st January 1924 - occ: Motor Garage Worker Heavy Work. Donald L. (Leonard D.) - born: 12th October 1935 - Under School Age. Arthur was mortally injured when a storage shed containing highly inflammable oil drums was set on fire after a Berry Wiggins Ltd., Oil Refiner's Depot at Eccles Old Road, Weaste, received a direct hit on the 5th September 1940. He died three weeks later in the Salford Royal Hospital on the 29th October 1940. Arthur resided at 5 Lodge Avenue East, Urmston and was a serving fireman in the Auxiliary Fire Service. Buried on the 2nd November 1940. Commemorated on the Manchester City FB Memorial as being from Urmston. CWGC - Fireman, A.F.S.; of 5 Lodge Avenue East, Urmston.
