Born on the 7th February 1891, the birth being registered during the March quarter 1891 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/187, the 2nd son of James & Martha Hall (nee Byrom). 1891 Census - Bollington. Son - aged: 2 months - born: Bollington. Head of household - James Hall - Married - aged: 31 - occ: Farmer - born: Dunham. Also - Martha Hall - Wife - aged: 33 - born: Altrincham. Plus 2 siblings, his maternal grandmother and 2 farm servants. 1901 Census - Bollington Village. Cousin - aged: 10 - born: Bollington. Head of household - John B. Turner - aged: 23 - occ: Farm Bailiff - born: Oldham. Plus 3 of Stanley's siblings and 1 domestic servant. His parents, together with his sister were then residing at Moss Farm, South Downs Road, Bowdon. 1911 Census - Moss Farm, Bollington, Cheshire. Son - aged: 20 - occ: Warehouseman - born: Bollington. Head of household - James Hall - Married - aged: 51 - occ: Farmer - born: Dunham. Also - Martha Hall - Wife - aged: 53 - born: Altrincham. Plus 3 siblings and 4 farm servants. Attended Seamon's Moss School. Member of St. John's Church Choir. Employed in the Shirt Department of Messrs. S. & J. Watts, Portland St, Manchester Enlisted in 1915, but was rejected as being physically unfit for service. He was then called up in December 1916 and posted to the Pay Corps. He first served at Chester and later at Nottingham. He contracted influenza on the Saturday and had died of pneumonia by Monday. Death reported in the 06/12/1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian. His coffin was carried to the Churchyard on a "Darley Car" and he was buried on the 05/12/1918 - Burial No. 30/1605. His father James died 06/05/1932 aged 72 years and his mother, Martha died 24/03/1946 aged 88 years. |
