Disembarked from HMS "Derfflinger" onto 'W' beach on 6th May to position west of Krithia on Gallipoli Peninsular. Each man carried 200 rounds of ammunition, 2 days food supply, pick & shovel. Took part in 3rd battle of Krithia on 4th June. CD gives town of residence as Southport, Lancashire. Commemorated on the private family gravestone in Stretford Cem. His father, George died 10/06/1932 aged 74 and his mother, Ada died 09/11/1906 aged 48 years. |
