Disembarked from HMS "Ionian" onto 'V' beach on 7th May to position west of Krithia on Gallipoli Peninsular. Each man carried 200 rounds of ammunition, 2 days food supply, pick & shovel. Took part in 3rd battle of Krithia on 4th June. CD gives no town of residence. Local newspaper states that he lived at 9 Virgil Street, Old Trafford. |
