Born during the September quarter 1898 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/205, the eldest son of William Nash & Maggie Greaves (neƩ Robinson). Baptised on the 20th October 1898 at St. Martin's P.C. Ashton upon Mersey. 1901 Census - 63 Chapel Road, Sale. Grandson - aged: 2 years 7 months - born: Sale. Head of household - Charles Robinson - Widower - aged: 61- occ: Butcher - born: Manchester. Plus 4 of his children. Also residing there was his son-in-law - William Nash Greaves (Harry's father) - Married - aged: 30 - occ: Electrical Mechanic - born: Rusholme, Manchester. Plus Maggie Greaves - daughter - (Harry's Mother) - aged: 29 - born: Sale. Plus Harry's younger brother and 2 lodgers. 1911 Census - 3 Briarfold, Belmont Road, Ashton upon Mersey. Son - aged: 12 - Scholar - born: Sale. Head of household - William Nash Greaves - Married - aged: 40 - occ: Textile Fitter - born: Manchester. Also Maggie Greaves - Wife - aged: 39 - born: Sale. Plus 2 younger brothers. The family moved from Sale to Ashton upon Mersey sometime between 1902 and 1908. Attended the Sale Higher Elementary School. Employed by Messrs. Stewart & Lloyds, Engineers, Mcr Enlisted in February 1917 and drafted to the front on the 31st August 1917. MIC - BWM & Victory only - no other info. Home on leave three weeks before he was killed. Death reported in the 08/11/1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian. His father was employed by Messrs. Cooke & Co, Moss Lane, Altrincham. Harry's nephew (son of his brother Jack Rowland & Mary Morgan) was Bob Greaves, the local television presenter. M.I. "A sorrow too deep for words".
