Trafford

Born at the Rising Sun, Rainow, Cheshire on the 12th June 1888, the birth
being registered during the June quarter 1888 in the Macclesfield R.D. -
ref: 8a/120, the son of Thomas & Martha Goodwin (nee Sutton).  His father
was  a Stone Dresser and a Licensed Victualler.

Married - aged: 44 - occ: Stone Quarryman Foreman - born: Rainow, Cheshire.

Cheshire.  Also Martha Goodwin - Wife - aged: 54 - born: Rainow, Cheshire. 
Plus 3 siblings.

Attended Macclesfield Grammar School and Manchester Grammar School.

WO374/28005 - Enlisted at Macclesfield on the 29th October 1914.  His
employment was Assistant Cashier,  he was 6 feet 1 inch in height and his
religion as - Wesleyan.  Appointed Lance Corporal on the 5th December 1914
and a Sergeant on the 13th.   Embarked UK on the 10th June 1917.   Arrived
20th June 1917.  Posted into the 1/7th Battalion, Cheshire Rgt on the 29th
July 1917.  Admitted into the Military Hospital, Ras-el-Tin on the 14th
October 1917.  Placed on the 'dangerously' ill list on the 16th - he died
there on the 19th October 1917.

His Estate was valued at £155. 10s. 7d.   The following personal items
were returned to his family.  Fountain Pen, Photo, Bomb Throwing
Certificate, 2 Cheque Books (Manchester & Liverpool Bank & Cox & Co. Bank,
Silver disc, Wristwatch & Strap, Waterproof Pouch, Cards & Letters, Scarf
Pin.  The full list is far too long to detail here.  He died of Diabetes in
the Military Hospital, Ras-el-Tin, Alexandria.  Buried in grave No. 3026
Hadra Hill Cemetery, Alexandria.
