Born during the June quarter 1921 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/1297, the son of Thomas Richard & Edith Guy (nee Price). From its bases in Libya, the squadron eventually moved to Italy and was based at Tortorella (also known as Foggia No. 2) from the 29th December 1943 until the 2nd October 1945. Whilst there the squadron was supplied with Liberator VIs. The squadron was then able to attack targets in Italy, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Albania, as well as dropping supplies to the Yugoslav partisans. Part of 205 Group, 231 Wing. Commemorated on the family gravestone in Sale Cemetery. His father - Thomas Richard Guy died on the 5th January 1951, aged: 73 years and his Mother - Edith Guy, died on the 29th December 1950, aged: 76 years. |
