was also a Civil Defence First Aider.    Arthur B. Firth - Born on the 28th
June 1914 - Single - occ: Chartered Accountant Senior Clerk.   Arthur was
also a Civil Air Guard being trained at the Northern School of Aviation.at
Barton Aerodrome.

Former captain of Timperley Football Club.    This MEN Report dated the
27th May 1943 of his death is the only reference to Timperley.

HMS Harvester was refitted at Liverpool between the 12th December 1941 and
11th February 1943.   Whilst defending Convoy HX 228 on 3rd March,
Harvester forced U-444 to the surface and then rammed it. She was badly
damaged by the ramming, but she rescued five survivors after the submarine
sank.   The next day, Harvester was torpedoed by U-432 and broke in half.  
 Nine officers and 136 ratings were lost, but the French corvette Aconit
rammed and sank U-432 herself and then rescued Harvester's few survivors.
