Born on the 20th May 1882, the birth being registered during the June
quarter 1882 in the  Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/200, the eldest son of Henry
& Elizabeth Davenport (nee Tipton).

Road, Ashton Upon Mersey.   His father was a Roadman for the local
council.

Enlisted in June 1916.   Attached to the Advanced Horse Transport Depot at
Abbeville, later to the 319 Road Construction Company.  Later transferred
to the 2nd Bn South Wales Borderers in time to join them in the Battle of
Cambrai that commenced on the 20th November 1917

His death was reported in the 14/12/1917 edition of the Altrincham
Guardian.

Left a widow and young son.
