Born on the 22nd October 1897, the birth being registered during the December quarter 1897 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/178, the only child of Charles M. & Cordelia Dorman (nee Orr). 1901 Census - "Corrisholme", Broad Road, Sale. Son - aged: 3 - born: Sale. Head of household - Charles M. Dorman - Married - aged: 40 - occ: Electrical Engineer - born: Northamptonshire. Also - Cordelia Dorman - Wife - aged: 28 - born: Castle, Co. Galway, Ireland. Plus an aunt and 2 domestic servants. 1911 Census - "Corrisgate", Beaufort Road, Sale. Son - aged: 13 - Scholar - born: Sale. Head of household - Charles Mark Dorman - Married - aged: 50 - occ: Electrical Engineer - born: Northamptonshire. Also - Cordelia Dorman - Wife - aged: 38 - born: Ireland. Plus 2 domestic servants. Employed in the family firm of - Dorman & Smith, Electrical Engineers, Salford. WO363 - Enlisted at Northampton on the 23rd May 1916. [Another document stated that he had enlisted at Sale on the 9th December 1916. His age was given as 18 years, 50 days, residing at "Whitehall"< Sale and employed as an Engineering Student at Manchester University. He recorded that he had served for three years in the O.T.C. He was 5 feet 8 3/4 inches in height, his chest measurements 30 1/2 to 33 inches. He weighed 124 lb. Based at Marlow, Buckinghamshire. He only served "at home" in England. He was admitted to hospital on the 9th March 1917, suffering from German Measles and discharged on the 24th. Accidentally drowned in the River Thames at Boulter's Lock, Maidenhead. Death reported in the 25/09/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian. Service at St. Anne's P.C. before burial. Buried 21/09/1917 - Burial No. 15,426.
