Born during the March quarter 1897 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref:
8c/713, the son of Edward & Annie Dodwell (nee Smith).

1901 Census - 27 Barton Grove, Patricroft, Eccles.  Son - aged: 4 - born:
Patricroft.   Head of household - Edward Dodwell - Married - aged: 38 -
occ: Plasterer -  born:Birmingham.   Also Annie Dodwell - Wife - aged: 34 -
born: Birmingham.   Plus 4 siblings, including his elder brother Arthur
Dodwell who was also killed in WW1.

1911 Census - 47 Hampson Street, Sale.   Son - aged: 14 - occ: Errand Boy -
born: Stretford.  Head of household - Edward Dodwell - Married - aged: 48 -
occ: Plasterer -  born: Birmingham.   Also Annie Dodwell - Wife - aged: 43
- born: Birmingham.   Plus 6 siblings,  including his elder brother Arthur
Dodwell who was also killed in WW1.

Enlisted in September 1914 and drafted to the front in September 1915.   
Part  of 77th Brigade, 26th Division.   posted to Salonika in November 1915
and was engaged in various actions against the Bulgarian Army, including
the Battle of Horseshoe Hill 1916 and the Battles of Doiran 1917 and 1918.


His father died in 1916, aged: 53.

Death reported in the 11/10/1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.   He
had been drafted to "another" front (censor) for the past three years
(Obviously, Salonika).

Post War his mother resided at 10 Wilson Street, Sale.
