Born 1888 - No Trace BMDs.   Eldest son of Martin & Ellen Donegan.

1891 Census - No Trace.

1901 Census - No Trace.

1911 census - No Trace.    His mother and siblings were residing at 31 Hyde
Grove, Sale.   Head of household -  Ellen Donegan - Widow - aged: 48 -
born: Llwyngwil.    Plus 3 siblings and 1 boarder.

WO 363 - Residing at 31 Hyde Grove, Sale, he attested at Chester into the
7th Bn Cheshire Rgt on the 7th April 1916.   He was aged: 28 years, 237
days and employed as a Labourer.  His mother - Mrs. Ellen Donegan was his
next of kin.  In May 1920, his mother stated on her Army Form W.5080
listing all Thomas' relatives - his father was deceased and his mother was
aged 60.   His brother - Humphrey Donegan was aged: 26 and resided at 31
Hyde Grove, Sale.  He had three sisters - Annie, Catherine & Mary Ellen,
aged: 28, 24 & 18 respectively.   He was 5 feet 9 1/2 inches in height and
his chest measurement s were 35 to 37 inches.

He embarked with the British Expeditionary Force on the 24th October 1916
and was posted into the 11th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment on the 5th
November 1916.   Admitted to the 75th Field Ambulance on the 7th August
1917 suffering from Prepatella Buraitis often referred to as Housemaid's
Knee. Sent back to No. 3 Canadian C.C.S. (Casualty Clearing Station).  Then
sent back to the N0. 16 General Hospital at Le Treport on the 9th.

Sent to the I.B.D. (Infantry Base Depot) at Rouen on the 20th September
1917.

Telegram dated the 9th April 1918 was sent to his mother from the Officer
Commanding No. 47 General Hospital Le Treport, France informing her that
her son was dangerously ill and that if she should desire to visit him, to
call for a permit at Alexandra House, Kingsway.   If she was unable to bear
the expense to London to take the telegram to your nearest Police Station. 
 She received another telegram dated the 13th April 1917 from the same
Officer informing her that Thomas had died on the 12th from a G.S.W. (Gun
Shot Wound) to his left thigh.

His mother was awarded a combined pension of 15/- w.e.f. the 15th October
1918.   His brother - Thomas Donegan was also killed in WW1.
