Born during the December quarter 1888 in the Birmingham R.D. - ref: 6d/4,
the eldest son of Edward & Annie Dodwell (nee Smith).

1891 Census - Park Road, Birmingham.   Son - aged: 2 - born: Birmingham.  
Head of household - Edward Dodwell - Married - aged: 28 - occ: Plasterer -
born: Birmingham.    Also - Annie Dodwell - Wife - aged: 26 - born:
Birmingham.    Plus 2 sisters.

1901 Census - 27 Barton Grove, Eccles, Patricroft.   Son - aged: 12 - born:
Stretford.    Head of household - Edward Dodwell - Married - aged: 38 -
occ: Plasterer - born: Birmingham.    Also - Annie Dodwell - Wife - aged:
34 - born: Birmingham.    Plus 1 elder sister and 3 younger brothers,
including his younger brother, Walter Dodwell who was also killed during
WW1.

1911 Census - 47 Hampson Street, Sale.    Son - Unmarried - aged: 23 - occ:
Plasterer - born: Birmingham.   Head of household - Edward Dodwell -
Married - aged: 48 - occ: Plasterer - born: Handsworth, Birmingham.    Also
- Annie Dodwell - Wife - aged: 43 - born: Birmingham.    Plus 6 younger
siblings, including his younger brother, Walter Dodwell who was also killed
during WW1.

the 6th Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers were part of 27th Brigade, 9th
(Scottish) Division.   I have no record as to when Arthuer enlisted, but
the Battalion landed at Boulogne on the 11th May 1915.  They were involved
in the Battle of Loos that commenced on the 25th September 1915.   Arthur
was killed four days later.

His father died in 1916, aged: 53.
