Born during the December quarter 1885 in the Altrincham R.D. - ref: 8a/178, the son of Peter & Mary Darbyshire (nee Walker). 1891 Census - Mount Pleasant Road, Baguley. Son - aged: 5 - born: Baguley. Head of household - Peter Darbyshire - Married - aged: 28 - occ: Farmers Son - born: Baguley. Also - Mary Darbyshire - Wife - aged: 37 - occ: Agricultural Work - born: Baguley. 1901 Census - Smithy Lane, Baguley. Son - aged: 15 - occ: Market Gardeners son - born: Baguley. Head of household - Peter Darbyshire - Married - aged: 38 - occ: Market Gardener - born: Baguley. Also - Mary Darbyshire - Wife - aged: 37 - born: Baguley. 1911 Census - Duns Lane, Baguley. Son - Unmarried - aged: 25 - occ: Assisting at Home (in Market Garden) - born: Baguley. Head of household - Peter Darbyshire - Married - aged: 48 - occ: Market Gardener - born: Baguley. Also - Mary Darbyshire - Wife - aged: 47 - born: Baguley. His death was reported in the 14/02/1919 edition of the Altrincham Guardian, which stated that his parents lived at Dunns Lane, Baguley. He was struck on the head with an explosive shell (shrapnel) on the 04/11/1918 and knocked unconscious - he never came round - and died in hospital abroad on the 09/11/1918. Commemorated on the private family gravestone in Christchurch Churchyard. Also commeorated on the Altrincham & District Roll of Honour. His father, Peter died 12/01/1940 aged 72 years and his mother, Mary died 27/01/1931 aged 67 years. M.I. - "One of the best God could send. Hope to meet in Heaven. His dear Mother". |
