ref: 8d/162, the son of John Richard & Martha Ann Dawson (nee Jones) 

1891 Census - 42 Rothwell Street, Salford.   Son - aged: 1 - born: Salford.
   Head of household - John Richard Dawson - Married - aged: 23 - occ:
Brass Finisher - born: Salford.   Also - Martha Dawson - Wife - aged: 22 -
born: Liverpool.  No mention of "Synor"

1901 Census - 103 Hartington Street, Salford.  [The entire family haved now
had "Synor" added as a prefix to the surname].    Son - aged: 10 - born:
Salford.    Head of household - John R. Synor-Dawson - Married - aged: 32 -
occ: Brass Finisher - born: Salford.   Also - Martha Synor-Dawson - Wife -
aged: 30 - born: Liverpool.   Plus 4 younger siblings - all called
Synor-Dawson.

1911 Census - No Trace, but his parents and 4 siblings are now residing at
538 Liverpool Street, Pendleton, Salford.  His father - John Richard
Synor-Dawson is now a 44 year old Electrical Engineer and his mother -
Martha Ann Synor-Dawson is now aged: 42. 

Married - Rose E. Barnes during the September quarter 1915 in the Salford
R.D. - ref: 8d/245.

Well known on the Music Hall Stage as one of the Athol Trio of singers and
dancers.   He appeared in several Waldron Pantomimes and his mimic talent
was seen to its advantage in a pantomime.  From the "ERA" Magazine - 10th
December 1910. Under Queens Park Hippodrome - The first pantomoine to hit
Manchester this season  made its appearance here on Monday.  It is William
Watson's version of Robinson Crusoe.  The article lists all the various
artisits and their roles - Athiel Dawson is listed as being in the role of
Captain Blizzard.

Employed at the Carborundum Works, Trafford Park.

Enlisted as No. 304172 - Manchester Rgt, later transferred to the MGC. 
Drafted to the front in August 1917.

Death reported in the 31/05/1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

His father was the President of the Sale Spiritualist Church and his
parents listed as living at Friars Road, Sale in May 1918.

His brother, Private Harold Dawson, was serving with the Manchester Rgt and
had been at the front since the autumn of 1915.

Left a widow and infant son - Harold S. Barnes, born 1917.
