the son  of Thomas Cowell & Minnie Elizabeth Dewhurst (nee Bacon).

Dewhurst - Married - aged: 38 - occ: Commercial Clerk - born: Blackwall,
London.  Also - Minnie E. Dewhurst - Wife - aged: 33 - born: Melton
Mowbray, Leicestershire. 

His father - Thomas Cowell Dewhurst died in 1895, aged: 42.

1901 Census - 74 Cyprus Street, Stretford.  Son - aged: 19 - occ: Clerk in
Chemcal Merchants - born: Manchester.   Head of household - Minnie E.
Dewhurst - Widow - aged: 39 - occ: Dresmaker - born: Melton Mowbray,
Leicestershire. 

Married Lily Gayter during the December quarter 1910 in the Bucklow R.D. -
ref: 8a/326.   They produced a son - Charles K. Dewhurst in 1915.

1911 Census - 18 Station Road, Urmston.    Head of household - Married -
aged: 29 - occ: Engineer's Clerk - born: Manchester.   Also - Lily Dewhurst
- Wife - aged: 24 - occ: Confectioner - born: Sale.    Plus 1
confectioner's assistant.

Educated at Cheetham Collegiate School.     Employed at the Westinghouse
Works, Trafford Park.

Enlisted in September 1916

Death reported in the 02/03/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

St. Martin's Grave Ref: 1.137.   M.I. - "Resting where no shadows fall,
until we meet again".

His wife ran the confectioners shop at Station Rd, Urmston.

He left a widow and one son - Charles Kenneth Dewhurst who also died on
active service, but in the 2nd W.W. and is buried in the same grave as his
father.

His widow is listed as later living at Long Island City, New York.

Listed in the Guardian Year Book - Roll of Honour for 1918, which states
that he lived at Urmston.
