Born during the September quarter 1892 in the Hayfield R.D. - ref: 7b/855, the son of Lewis & Harriett Clegg (nee Wood). In 1891 his parents and 4 elder siblings were residing at Pikes Lane, Glossop, which is probably where he was born. 1901 Census - Northenden Road, Sale. Son - aged: 8 - born: Glossop, Derbyshire. Head of household - Lewis Clegg - Married - aged: 41 - occ: Salesman of Wood Pulp - born: Glossop. Also - Harriett Clegg - Wife - aged: 40 - born: Glossop. Plus 4 elder siblings and 1 domestic servant. 1911 Census - The Manor House, Woodlands Road, Altrincham. Son - aged: 22 - occ: Shipbroker's Apprentice. born: Glossop. Plus 2 elder siblings and 1 domestic servant. His parents were visitors at 154 Salthouse Road, Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire. Lewis Clegg - aged: 54 - occ: Head Salesman with Paper Company - born: Glossop. Also - Mary Louisa Clegg - aged: 51 - born: Glossop. Recorded as being married for 30 years with no children ??? They were visitors with Albert & Elizabeth Bradbury and Family. Albert was described as a General Manager with Paper Company.
