Born 1889 at Mertola, Portugal, the son of Marriott William & Mary Harriet Leahy Clinch (nee Parkinson). 1901 Census - 19 Wellington Squre, Oxford. Nephew (listed as Percy Clinch) - aged: 12 - born: Portugal. Also residing there was his brother - William Clinch (8) and his sister - Esparamza (6) - both born at Portugal. They were residing with their two aunts - Kate & Emily Clinch. 1911 Census - 7 Moreton Avenue, Stretford. Boarder (listed as Percy Clinch) - aged: 22 - occ: Engineering Apprentice - born: Mertol, Portugal. A School Apprentice at Metro-Vics from 1905 to 1910. MIC - Posted to Gallipoli on the 5th May 1915.
