Born during the September quarter 1893 in the Manchester R.D. - ref:
8d/289, the son of John Henry & Sarah Ann Consterdine (nee Wakes).

His father died in 1899, aged: 31.

1901 Census - 10 Ella Street, Harpurhey and Moston.   Grandson - aged: 7 -
born: Manchester.  Head of household - George Wakes - Widower - aged: 75 -
born: Bury, Lancashire.   Plus his maternal uncle a 47 year old Yarn Dyer.

His mother was then residing at 14 Boardman Street, Manchester.   Widow -
aged: 32 - occ: Reeler (Cotton) - born: Manchester.   There were 3 children
(Joseph's siblings - Ethel (b.1895) - George (b.1898) - Annie (b.1900). 
There were also 2 lodgers - an 18 year od Glazier and a William Gibbons, a
46 year old widower and Retired Police Officer, born at Lower Peover,
Cheshire.

His mother - Sarah Ann Consterdine married William Gibbons during the
September quarter 1901 in the Manchester R.D. - ref: 8d/449.

1911 Census - Chorley, Alderley Edge, Cheshire.   Assistant - aged: 17 -
occ: Assistant in the business - born: Manchester.  Residing with William
Mitchell & Emily Burgess.   William being a Grocer.

His mother and step-father were then residing at Paddock Hill, Mobberley.  
William Gibbons - Head - Married - aged: 56 - occ: Retired Police Officer -
born: Peover, Cheshire.   Also Sarah Ann Gibbons - Wife - aged: 41 - born:
Manchester.   Plus his youngest sister - Annie and 3 Gibbons
step-siblings.
