Joined the Metro-Vicker's Company as a Probationary College Apprentice in September 1930 and returned as a College Apprentice in September 1934. On completion of hia apprenticeship in September 1935, he joined the staff of the Johannesburg Office. Joined the South African Engineer Corps as a Second Lieutenant in November 1940 and later promoted to the rank of Captain. Awarded the M.C. in May 1943 in recognition of gallant & distinguished services in the Middle East. KinA in Italy in April 1945. |
